6.1 Institutional Vision and Leadership

6.1.1 The institutional governance and leadership are in accordance with the vision and mission of the Institution and it is visible in various institutional practices such as NEP implementation, sustained institutional growth, decentralization, participation in the institutional governance and in their short term and long term Institutional Perspective Plan.

To build a happier, healthier, peaceful and prosperous Bharat and world harnessing the power and potential of Communication.

Mission:

  1. To be a world class university fostering innovative, creative, inclusive, ethical and professional media practitioners.
  2. To serve as a platform for nurturing talent, creativity and promoting entrepreneurship in the media and communication industry as also related disciplines.
  3. To serve as a global communication think tank contributing intellectually to media, academia, industry, Governments and society at large.
  4. To play the role of National Communication University imparting media literacy among the masses, upskilling grassroots level media, thereby promoting development communication, and grooming an enlightened citizenship to further strengthen our democracy, society and nation.
  5. To promote the Bharatiya (Indian) perspective in global media discourse and narrative including promoting a new global Information Order and the voice of developing countries.

University Governance and Leadership:

Strategic Plan, Deployment and Decisions are taken by Committees. Adoption of decentralization of power and the decision making is the participative management of the University with respect to research, training and extension activities in the University.. University has various bodies and committees for good governance as per ACT, Regulations, Policies & Guidelines. Governance of University is in line of vision and Mission.

  • Providing courses in all disciplines in futuristic and emerging areas of journalism and communication.
  • Developing graduate attributes as per the need of the discipline/profession
  • Developing the students to be industry ready professionals
  • Inculcating ethical values and to impart knowledge of our culture
  • To create an understanding of research, innovation and entrepreneurship
  • The university has effective & efficient administrators to provide leadership and management at
  • various levels:
    1. University level
    2. Department level
    3. Program level
    4. Course level

University Level:

University has authorities and officer such as Vice-Chancellor, Rector, Controller of Examinations, Director IQAC, and Heads of the department and in-charge of different cells campuses for smooth functioning of University administration.

Department/Cell Level:

University has different departmental/Cell Level committees for smooth functioning of the departments activities.

Program & Course Level:

University has also adopted and implemented Mentor-Mentee scheme to address academic and behaviour issues of students.

University has different cells to address the issues related to teachers, development plan of the University, brief details of them are as follows:

  • Examination Department is headed by Controller of Examinations along with assistance of several Assistant Registrars of different cells to address examination issues
  • University has four campuses headed by Campus Director/Incharge
  • University has separate finance department along with the accounts and audit section.
  • The Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Office Superintendent and Finance Officer supervise day to day administrative activities.
  • University has separate IT infrastructure & Maintenance Cell to carry out activities of maintenance and procurement of IT equipment.
  • University has constituted the Committee for LMS committee that handles e-governance of teaching & learning
  • Research Cell handles research related activities. It also organizes programmes/workshops related to research, consultancy and activities of incubation centres.
  • Student support services are taken care of by Dean Student welfare, University SPOC for coordinating online learning (MOOCs) with UGC-SWAYAM, NPTEL etc.,
  • Sports and cultural activities are taken care by Sports/Cultural coordinator
  • Hostel committee handles the functioning of boys’ and girls’ hostel and has separate office in the campus.
  • “Monitoring Committee for Code of Conduct” to ensure its effective implementation.
