India’s achievements lie in children’s education, protection and freedom: Nobel Peace Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi
Special lecture on ‘Role of Young Journalists in Promoting Child Rights’ held in MCU on Swami Vivekanand Birthday
Bhopal, 12th January, 2020: Nobel peace laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi today said that future of a country is not safe, educated and healthy if its children are not safe, educated and healthy. India’s achievements lie in its children’s protection, education and freedom. Shri Satyarthi called upon young journalists to write on protection of child rights. Shri Satyarthi was addressing a special lecture on ‘Role of Young Journalists in Promoting Child Rights’, in Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication Bhopal, on the occasion of Swami Vivekanand Birthday being celebrated as National Youth Day, in online mode. University Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh chaired the programme.
Shri Satyarthi said Swami Vivekanand has a great influence on his personality and has been centre of inspiration. He still gets motivation from Swami’s thoughts. India was a great land was Vishwa Guru not because of transforming knowledge but it used to live with morality. Journalism and fearlessness both are synonym of each other, he said.
Shri Satyarthi said that journalist is an investigator of truth and spread it in the society. He called upon young journalists to spread positivity to illuminate the society. Shri Satyarthi himself started his career as a journalist.
No orphanage-old age home in country: Prof Suresh
Chairing the session, Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh said India will be the real superpower when there will be no orphanage and old age home here. Protection of child rights is the need of the hour. Young journalists should discuss it. Quoting Swami Ji’s ideals, Prof Suresh said one should not hesitate in carrying out innovation. If you are determined and dedicated to your goal, do it. People will support you at last. Swami Ji believed that an atheist is one who does not believe in himself. Dr Ramdeen Tyagi anchored the programme. Registrar Prof Avinash Bajpai proposed the vote of thanks.
Different competitions held to mark Youth Day
Different teaching departments of the university organised different competitions – short video production, poster making, blog writing, feature writing, speech competition and talk show, PPT presentation, animation and graphic designing to mark National Youth Day. Prof Suresh distributed a letter of commendation to the staff members who completed online short term courses during the lockdown.
