Western Media Targeting Indian Civilization – Umesh Upadhyay
Bhopal, 11th March, 2024: A book reading session of Western Media Narratives on India from Gandhi to Modi authored by Mr. Umesh Upadhyay, a senior journalist was organised in the Nalanda Library of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication. Western Media Narratives on India explores how cultural imperialism influences the third world nations. Focussed on India, this narrative spans from the nation’s independence in 1947 to the present day, scrutinizing the relentless targeting of Indian leadership & civilization by the dominant Western English media. Vice Chancellor Prof. K.G. Suresh said that India is projected in a negative light in western media and all of us are becoming victims of propaganda. He said that Umesh Upadhyay has authored an extensively researched book that documents the entire time scale right from Mahatama Gandhi to Narendra Modi. Vice Chancellor said that Nalanda Library has emerged as a hub where leading authors are coming to discuss their books and have given a platform to the faculty and students to listen and discuss new ideas . He also said that it is a great honour for the university as this is the first book reading session of the book which was released two days ago. The book available at Amazon has already become the number one best seller in Media Studies. While addressing the audience and reading excerpts from his book, Umesh Upadhyay said that he considers himself as a civilization warrior and through this book he is fighting against the west’s long- held prejudices against India. Dr. Jaya Surjani coordinated the and Dr. Arti Sarang, HOD of Library and Information Science gave a vote of thanks. Dean Academics Dr. P. Sasikala, the HODs, faculty members and a large number of students were present in the session.
