Special lecture on ‘Need for Gender Sensitization in Higher Educational Institutions’
Bhopal, 06th December, 2021: A special lecture was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication on December 06, 2021 on the topic ‘Need for Gender Sensitization in Higher Educational Institutions’. The chief guest ,Prof. Nandini Laxmikant of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Karnataka spoke on the nuances of gender sensitization. The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. KG Suresh.
Keynote speaker Prof. Nandini Laxmikant, explained the gender related laws and their use from the point of view of both men and women. She explained verbal and nonverbal communication, body language, gestures and good and bad touch. She urged everyone to follow professional ethics at the workplace and create awareness for gender discrimination and sexual exploitation. The presentation was followed by a question answer session. On this occasion , the Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Prof. KG Suresh said that it is the additional responsibility of the students of journalism to bring awareness about gender sensitization. He advocated that an Internal Complaints Committee should be constituted in all the institutions as per the Vishaka guidelines and informed that Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has taken an initiative by constituting a committee which is working in the direction of gender sensitization. The chairman of the committee, Prof. P. Sasikala introduced the topic. The program was conducted by Shri Vivek Savrikar, a member of the committee and assistant registrar.
