MCU to celebrate Foundation Day on Aug 16 for first time in 34 years

Bhopal, 04th August, 2024: Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, will celebrate its Foundation Day for the first time in its history on August 16. Asia’s first and India’s largest media University was established on16th August 1990 by an act of Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Vice Chancellor Prof K G Suresh said said it was important to celebrate the day to remind the students, faculty and staff of the university’s glorious history as the institution embarks on a journey of excellence from its new premises at Makhanpuram, Bishankhedi. He said veteran theatre personality, author and Member Secretary of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi Prof Sachchidanand Joshi will be the Chief Guest and key note speaker on the occasion. He will speak on Viksit Bharat 2047 and the Role of Media. The 120 seater auditorium located in the computer science department of the university will be named after internationally acclaimed mathematician Srinivasan Ramanujan on that day. A cultural programme will also be organised on the occasion, he said. Foundation day has been included in the academic calendar of the university for the first time this academic session along with other festivals like Guru Purnima, Narad Jayanti and Bhartiya New Year.
