National Seminar on ‘National Education Policy and its Implementation’ concludes in MCU
Bhopal, 02nd March 2021: A two-day national seminar on ‘National Education Policy and its Implementation’, organised by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, NITI Aayog and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal concluded today. University faculty members of different campuses of MCU, guest teachers and research scholars and teachers of 1600 Associated Study Centres participated in the seminar.
Chief Guest of valedictory session, Higher Education Minister, MP, Dr Mohan Yadav said higher and school education suffered the most in Covid-19 period. MP Government found out ways & means and conducted examinations on time. Other states which criticised the decision at that time, later lauded it. Universities in Madhya Pradesh will execute NEP from next academic session. We will implement it because the policy is the subject of today and not tomorrow, he said.
Keynote speaker and General Secretary of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal Dr Umashankar Pachauri said changing nomenclature of education department to Human Resource Development Department was a major mistake and it ultimately destroyed the concept of education. Shri Pachauri said education should unfold the inner knowledge and skills of students and should not mould them. The NEP followed this concept. To implement the NEP is the task to be done only by teachers and not by government. This will inculcate ancient ‘Rishi Parampara’.
Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh said, Indian culture is education and teacher-centric. Here, teacher like Chanakya intervened in the system in the society’s interest. National Education Policy focused on teachers. Prof Suresh announced establishment of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) in the university and said, MCU will implement the policy from next academic session itself.
Earlier, Prof Mazhar Asif of Jawaharlal Nehru University, who was a member of the NEP drafting and review committee, interacted with teachers on NEP. Prof Asif said, Indian culture talks about Dharma and not religion. The NEP has value-based education in its focus. Q & A session was also held. NEP Coordinator Prof CP Agrawal spoke on the implementation of the policy. Seminar coordinator Dr Pavan Singh Malik conducted the programme. Registrar Dr Avinash Bajpai proposed the vote of thanks.
