Orientation of PROs in second batch begins in MCU
Bhopal, 16th December, 2020: The two-day orientation programme of the second batch of Public Relations Officers of MP Government commenced today in Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal. Addressing the inaugural function, Principal Secretary, Public Relations, Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla said a public relations officer is a bridge between the government and media and carry out important task of informing public about government’s good works. Giving exposure to good works and success stories and curbing misinformation is the first and the foremost duty of public relations officers. They should be proactive, otherwise they will have to be reactive and misinformation will make its place.
Presiding over the inaugural function, Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh said the society should be sensitised towards important issues. Creating awareness is one of the tasks of the PROs. Preventing misinformation and fake content is a major challenge in the digital media age. Now we should be alert and prepare for misinformation over Corona vaccine. The university will impart training to journalists of Bhopal, Noida, Khandwa and Rewa for evidence-based health reporting, in collaboration with UNICEF, Prof Suresh said.
Renowned media professionals including Editor and Business Head of TV -9 Network Rakesh Khar, senior journalist Shri Girish Upadhyay, Shri Shivkumar Vivek, Shri Ranjan Shrivastav and Shri Manish Shrivastava ; former director of Public Relations Department Shri Lajpat Ahuja, senior assistant professor Dr Pavan Singh Malik addressed sessions. HoD of Advertising and Public Relations department Dr Pavitra Shrivastava presented report on the orientation programme. Dr Garima Patel conducted the proceedings and Registrar Dr Avinash Bajpayee proposed the vote of thanks.
