Identification and exposure of content should be part of curriculum: Prof KG Suresh
‘Factshala’ workshop held in Journalism University
Bhopal, 22 October, 2020: Vice chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of journalism and communication, Prof KG Suresh said all teachers should impart training to students to identify and expose fake content. It is a need of the hour to make identification of fake content a part of curriculum. Many media institutions in the country have launched programmes like ‘Viral Sach’ but they have their limitations. Fake content on social media is in abundance. People should be made aware of it. Prof Suresh was addressing the valedictory function of the online ‘Factshala’ workshop, organised by Department of New Media Technology of the university today.
Workshop convener and HoD, Prof P Sasikala said students, teachers and other staff members were imparted fact-checking training in the two-day workshop. ‘Factshala’ is a joint initiative of Internews and Dataleads and supported by Google News Initiative across. Participants were given training on identification of fake content in photographs, posters and video. Registrar Prof Avinash Bajpayee proposed the vote of thanks.
